Adviento con los Jovenes - 2021 con "Father: David Lugo, S.J."

 Father. David Lugo, S.J.

David A. Lugo, S.J., was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the United States at a young age with his parents and two older brothers.

Eventually they settled in Houston, Texas, where David attended public school and a diocesan parish.

After feeling called to the priesthood at a young age, David began to think about a life of priestly ministry.

Following his parents’ advice, he went to Texas A&M University to complete a bachelor’s degree in physics before considering seminary formation.

It was at A&M that David met the Jesuits.

He began to discern religious life in the Society and requested admission to the novitiate upon completing his undergraduate work.

In the fall of 2009, he entered the novitiate in the former New Orleans Province. From his time in the novitiate, David recalls many wonderful experiences, but he especially remembers his months serving the Jesuit parish in the hills of rural Guatemala.

It was on that experiment that he experienced the joys and opportunities that were open to him as a Jesuit.

After vows he studied philosophy at Saint Louis University and was then missioned to teach theology and mathematics at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas.

He remembers those three years with great fondness and looks forward to returning to the classroom in the future.

After completing his Bachelor of Sacred Theology and Master of Divinity at the Jesuit Theologate in Toronto, David requested to study spiritual theology and Ignatian spirituality at the Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid, Spain.

After his ordination to the priesthood, David will return to Madrid to finish his Licentiate in Sacred Theology and serve as a priest at a Jesuit parish in Madrid.
